I like Horse Head and what's not to like, Californian, chill but not wavy, blissed out and alternative, psychedelic RnB vibes, smooth sampled crooning pearls of joy, very much in the same sonic area as another great Teams. This reminds me of the best that was Chillwave in 2010, spilling out from sun drenched minds in places all over the States, although California was a bit of a hub. I planned to go on a "blog tour" that year, kind of like a DIY band tour but without the shows, just me turning up and blogging chillwave bands gigs and staying with them for a day or so. It would have been ace. Taking trains and buses everywhere as I never learnt how to drive, catching lifts from place to place, doing fuck all out on a beach somewhere, drinking mexican beers and chatting with newly formed bands about vintage synths. You can download the last two Horse Head EPs for free from Bandcamp. Love Theme and The Green 1.
Also go check out the Soundcloud page for the latest tracks. And there are so many new tracks all the time.
Dark rave trash rap from Paris, Orties are two girls making something really good. Late night club rap all sexual and intense and inscrutable. Look out for them near you soon, probably looking sweaty and sticky.
This is good, not sure about anything more than its a Bandcamp page but the artist is called Blown and it's mainly instrumental hip hop with a real electronic dance angle. A real mix of sounds, orchestral, post trancey, industrial and Witchian, all well worth the $3 to download it.
Blissed Out's new production project with Feebzz continues with this new track sampling Downtown. It's free to download (grab it from the Soundcloud player below). Feebzz's own brand of icky feeling trash talk rap meanders along over Blissed Outs always fuzzed out beats and hook toothed syths, her voice feeling as if its funnelled through some kind of de-auto-tune app. A whining, high pitched, stoned flow that's surprisingly moorish.
Portland's Magic Fades are so damn good if you like indie-futures slick auto-tuned alt RnB. She Beat All The Haters is their most recent single and it slays. With remixes from Slow Head and Obelisk its a giant creep crooning gothic masterpiece of alt-pop mainstream baiting sex music. Blam!
Its available to download for "name your price" from Bandcamp now.
Shit but LE1F is amazing and there are loads of free downloads on his Soundcloud - no way enough people know about this dude! Minimal feeling rap with a sweaty nightclub feel, super cool but lost amongst the ether, everyone get on this, where's the Super Super LE1F front cover etc. Blam! This is too good.
Trill-wave, trap, crunk stuff from VALERIExAUSTIN. Good music for giving attitude on the bus, headphone on, feet up on the seat, no-one is sitting next to me. urgh you smell of old person go away, damn I gotta leave now, typical I have to take the bus everywhere, costs so much now, I hate little kids, so noisy and diseased, like pigeons, I want a pizza. Go download this from Soundcloud here.
Kitty Pryde makes new style alt hip-hop, she raps and is way young is well cool and seems to have pissed off equally alt rap meme pop artist Glass Popcorn. The Mishka Blog did a great interview with her here. Her Bandcamp links you up to a load of her tracks all free downloads via mediafire links. One to watch.
Dirrty Pharms makes ghostly RnB with beautiful autotuned male vocals along the lines of oFF or The Weeknd, its a little fuzzy and dirty around the edges but a real winner. Go download it from Bandcamp for free here.
