Bigzy & Unkle do am-dram dance..

It was SOOOOO good playing this to the crowd at The Clockwork Archipeligo at the weekend!
I was so hoping someone would do the dance, but no! Seeing dread headed girls dressed as hippo strippers or gold latex statues doing their own ass shaking to it though was funny enough!!

The Clockwork Archipeligo weekend.

The Clockwork Archipeligo was this weekend just gone (saturday/sunday) A group event from a whole bunch of steam punk, burlesque, circus freak, festival types that took place in some unused old garage spaces under the Brighton train station.

Loads of performances and bands, a bar and a food bar and djing! If you werent there you missed out on seeing Mr Jack Cooper, Restlesslist and the Bobby McGees playing live as well as a host of folk/jazz punk performance (..bad!)

Mr Jack Cooper lost his voice at the end of the set just in time for their new track "Lynks Africa" which is almost lyricless, all afro beats and 90's rave keys! V Good!

I played my usual stupid mix records which included: Betty Boo, Dj Assault, Journey, Ebola, Les Rythmes Digitales, Fantomas, Bigzy, Technotronic, Disco Devil and Bikini Kill.

Horrors come back.. much cheering!

Midnight on the 17th March, some eager beaver on Twitter alerts me and totally by surprise I find myself viewing the new Horrors stuff. Their entire site is given over to the video for their new single "Sea Within A Sea" (8 mins long!) AND there's a free mp3 of the song!

Blissed-out 80s post-punk goth-synth joy.
Check it!

Everyone To The Anderson, Elks, P For Persia at The Green House Effect 13/3/09

Everytime I see P For Persia they get better and better, last night there was some new songs thrown into the mix too! I've put them on twice now and seen them four times, I think I've accidently become their number one fan!

Elks were good in a bluesy Charlottefield way, all beards and smilling and great dynamics.

Everyone to the Anderson kicked it well, not as agro/violent as I remember but still heavy as!

But sandwiched in there between P For Persia and Elks was Who Owns Death TV.. and their annoying FAR TOO LOUD for their own good sonic youth noise.. All high end and cheap symbols guitar solos and shit.. They have fucked my ears (still muddy and whistling today!) Their bass player is great but they're not the kind of band that being TOO loud suits! They're no Motorhead! I dont like to slag bands off but man my ears!
Baa! :( Bad WODTV!

I played some Disco Devil, Force Of Nature and Blood Ceromony with the Meatbreak in the gaps between!

Its funny where you discover new music!

In my daily read of the New Scientist I came across a couple of free tracks by "leading" Chiptune artist Pixelh8. There's a whole article about him and how he uses ancient computers to produce really irratating tracks here.

Bat For Lashes Vs Technotronic

I was up early and for some reason started to listen to old cheesy rave records, Technotronic, Hardcore Uproar, lil Louis, 808 State, Betty Boo, Candy Flip, Snap, Adentures Of Stevie V, The Shamen etc..

While bopping out in my room drinking loadsa coffee I started to flick through my MySpace bulletins and saw Tashes new video "Daniel" Now I've always liked Bat For Lashes but never really listen too much to her as its not totally my thing but I really like her new stuff, at least shes being more La Roux and less CatPower/Bjork Daniel - Bat For Lashes

..But despite this super nice vid and song I'm sure wherever shes living shes still never doing the washing up! (Letting things "Soak" is not the same as cleaning things!)

Canadian Black Noise

Menace Ruine are a two piece woman/man black metal band from Montreal that run more into the electronic ambient noise realm more than the world of studded leather armlets and white face paint.

Female vocals in a chanting medieval monastry vibe over psychadelic drone and atmospheric wall off fuzz high end. Programmed drums that are both Velvet Underground and WITTR at double speed and THE longest metal hair ever!

Its great to find a BM band that are half female, its less boys toys and machismo.
But no less grim dark and death awaiting!

"The Die Is Cast" and "Cult of Ruins" albums were both out lsat year on Alien8 Recordings.

Check their Myspace (Without any friends -SO black metal!) here:
