Arian A Jalali
Bass driven post punk sounds by Arian A Jalali, sounding close to true blue '80s northern melancholia via a bit of Interpol. Quality. All I know of this artist is that they are from Portland. You can download one of the tracks from Soundcloud or the player below.

WhistleJacket
WhistleJacket is some band or dude from London making beautiful droney shoegaze inspired sounds all minimal and rudimentary, full of psychedelia and guitar loving wonder. Post punk lost beneath a wave of reverb and warm muffled joy.

Drunk Bridge Burning & Saturday Night Bedlam
The Vivids, energetic angular post punk feelings channelled through full on garage psych noise and 80s discord. Brilliant and hard to listen to like Gang Of Four or The Fall sounded like at times. Download their five track Drunk Bridge Burning And Saturday Night Bedlam EP at Bandcamp for free now!

Momentform - Yearn
"Paris-based Momentform take their darkest turn with Yearn, a collection of four tracks that reflect the discord, isolation and paranoia of the urban metropolis. The project draw inspiration from the fringe pioneers of minimal synth, post-punk, and the electronic avant-garde in their singular pursuit towards a modernist ideal. Carefully composed of repetitive rhythm sequences, searching bass lines and fractured arpeggios, Yearn agitates and haunts at every juncture, ultimately questioning whether the city can ever allow one to reach a truly meditative state."
Lovely little blurb from a brand new record label based in London called New Ideals. This is their début release. Intense, intellectual and awesome.
Dignan Porch - Nothing Bad Will Ever Happen
Of the many of the new wave of lo-fi garage post punk bands gracing any and every gig across the more discerning venues of the land Dignan Porch are one of the more genius editions to the roster and a band that I can really listen to more than just a couple of times.
They have a album just come out called "Nothing Bad Will Ever Happen". It slays. It can be downloaded from Bandcamp here.

Smörgåsbord (3 Flavors) by Super Buddies
Smörgåsbord (3 Flavors) by Super Buddies is an eclectic sounding album ranging between great mid-fi post punk, ambient soundscapes and slick downbeat. That's because its a three way split EP from How Scandinavian, Donny Yen and Andrew Henry. Free to download from Bandcamp it describes itself as "Like eating from a greasy Smörgåsbord with your eyes closed." Have a listen.

WHITE HEX
Avant! Records have a definite sound, a cold post punk gothic nuance that pervades all of their artists and has me blogging about their releases quiet regularly.
White Hex are an Australian duo, these tropical goths have a great melancholic guitar bass and drums combination, full of reverb rich vocals and constant strumming baselines. Brilliant.
Their 12" LP - Heat is out on Avant! now. You can also download their record from the Avant! Bandcamp for €5.

Lust For Youth's - Growing Seeds LP
Lust For Youth's "Growing Seeds LP" is ten tracks of dark wave, minimal synth post punk with a neo folk vibe. Grim, cold, harsh and brilliant, dense atmospherics and style you could cut throats with. Just amazing. Pounding gloom and dark droning post industrial malaise. Out on the especially great Avant! Records. Download it for €5 from their Bandcamp now!

Ill Winds - Moon Wheel
Split cassette release between Ill Winds and moon Wheel, expect jangly minimal gothic post punk all echoing vocals, drones, angular and intense, moodyness against black and white skies, lost cemeteries, futility, noise and the like. Tough Troubles - Romances
Tough Troubles bio starts when; "the Holloway had burnt down. Feeling unsafe and betrayed by local health and safety by-laws, local men were looking for a place of togetherness and peace. Fi Fi and Mi Mi met at Argos on the corner of Holloway road and Isledon road. Mi Mi was flicking through the shelving section of the catalogue when Fi Fi struck up a conversation about the flimsiness of the cd storage unit he had recently assembled. Gi Gi supplied the Korean snacks... and the rest happens at the local arts center, a safe and inclusive environment."
There are so many genres and sounds flowing through this four piece bands DIY album Romances. It's a cornucopia of influences, grungy garage rock one track, experimental noise the next, it even goes all post punk and darkwave on your ears at points.
Go download it for free (name your price) from Bandcamp now.

SOFT KILL - FROM THIS POINT ON
Great video for a great band but my interest lies primarily with the brilliant DIY feeling video made for the band by †CRCKHEAD†. Gothic, video styled, filmed off the tv, witch house in the woods, bleak mid winter, urban post apocalyptic, reclaimed by nature, ruins of rust comes the new goth, caps but inverted crosses, fashion but dirt, lost in the wilderness, bleached out.
No idea what I'm going on about? Check their blog for the some of the coolest looking people on the planet.

Sweet Bulbs make arty guitar punk.
Sweet Bulbs are an unsigned three/four piece from Brooklyn who make some great lo-fi garage songs a bit like Girlfriends or Colleen Greene who I wrote about last week. Its melodic and discordant, guitar driven with catchy female vocals but more Sonic Youth in its sound rather than straight out scuzzy punk. They have a few gigs this August in New York and though no record yet one is coming soon.

King Antics!
King Antics: Unsigned, 3 piece post punk primitivism, synths, drum machines, epic like Wire, vocals like Editors.Dynamic hauntings and feelings of fellow Londoners Wild Palms, vaguely industrial but african rhythms thrown around like its the artschool 80s.
You can hear this is not their first band, this is something that's been brewed a while, although these guys are only recently formed. A handful of gigs and much blog screaming.
More than worth a listen. Check them on their myspace.

Wild Palms at The Recommender 24th April.

So like this is happening on the 24th April and is gonna be so good and everyone has to come. (Not before I get my ticket though!)
Wild Palms are just so good! They're kind of on tour/kind of just getting tons of gigs right now but don't miss this because its going to be amazing.
Postpunk but done with the proper fury and energy that it should have, not this weedy Flock Of Seagulls inspired stuff thats floating to the surface at the moment!
Here's the bands Myspace and Tumblr and below is their video for Over Time. Big things people, big things!
The gig is being put on by The Recommender, top league bloggers and burgeoning promoters.
So again, its on Saturday 24th April @Jam in Brighton for only £4! Be there or be jealous!

Horrors come back.. much cheering!
Midnight on the 17th March, some eager beaver on Twitter alerts me and totally by surprise I find myself viewing the new Horrors stuff. Their entire site is given over to the video for their new single "Sea Within A Sea" (8 mins long!) AND there's a free mp3 of the song!
Blissed-out 80s post-punk goth-synth joy.
Check it!
