Lust For Youth's - Growing Seeds LP

Lust For Youth's "Growing Seeds LP" is ten tracks of dark wave, minimal synth post punk with a neo folk vibe. Grim, cold, harsh and brilliant, dense atmospherics and style you could cut throats with. Just amazing. Pounding gloom and dark droning post industrial malaise. Out on the especially great Avant! Records. Download it for €5 from their Bandcamp now!

Ill Winds - Moon Wheel

Split cassette release between Ill Winds and moon Wheel, expect jangly minimal gothic post punk all echoing vocals, drones, angular and intense, moodyness against black and white skies, lost cemeteries, futility, noise and the like. These two bands are from Berlin and they kick ass. You can download the free track Knut from Bandcamp here. You can also buy the cassette from Noisekölln Tapes here.

The Rebirth of Shapes II by Ellah a. Thaun

The Rebirth of Shapes II by Ellah a.Thaun is a brilliant album of experimental freak folk drone and psychedelic acoustic trance, swirling organ drones hovering over echoing strings, half intoned melodies floating along rivers of pulsing organic space psych and shimmering screaming sun filtered vocals whispers. Greats stuff. Go download it all for free from Bandcamp now.

The Long Wives...

Darkly gothic Neo-Folk from LA, The Long Wives are one Brandy St. John (vocals, guitar, piano, songwriting and recording.) This one woman purveyor of quietly echoing melancholia, dark and brooding, paganistic feeling black folk creates songs about death and love, and the death of love. Look out King Dude! Check out her Facebook to download a huge bunch of songs.

Death Of Abel - free downloads.

Another Neo Folk artist today! Death of Abel is the side-project of Luca Morte. He is also known as the singer of the New Wave/Goth Band Die Selektion. This is more visceral than King Dude, more angst ridden and close, elements of post punk filter through now and then to this German language artist, electronic sounds grating but working in perfectly. Songs for earnest young men wondering the hilltops shouting at clouds and rolling naked in wild flowers. Go to the Soundcloud page to download a bunch of great songs for free.

GR†LLGR†LL - I'm Gonna Dress In Black

GR†LLGR†LL has gone and released a brilliant cover of a the classic 60s gothic soul garage track called I'm Gonna Dress In Black by the band Them which was Van Morrisons first project.
Check the GR†LLGR†LL track below which slows things down but is also a faithful cover, ending up sounding incredibly like the neo-folk stylings of King Dude!! A brilliant new angle for GR†LLGR†LL to take musically, very exciting... only thing is it says this was released last June!! How did I miss this!!?? How??!!
Download the track for free from the Bandcamp page!

The King Dude videos rock!

Really getting on a King Dude thing at the moment. Just discovered the videos, so good, the kinda thing I wanna start putting together. So today on the blog is just a whole bunch of great viewing to be had. First up is My Beloved Ghost -the guitar sound reminds me of the more melancholic of tracks from The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Then we have the video for The Black Triangle, and its sexually ambiguous pretagonist.

Finally we have a video with more video shake than The Blair Witch Project, it wouldn't have been that hard to keep it more steady, but any way try not to get motion sickness and make sure you watch the surprise twist ending!

King Dude video interview by Nick Gazin.

King Dude Gets Interviewed and Performs "No One Is Here" from Nick Gazin on Vimeo.

So its taken till now to listen to King Dude and wow he's really good. Part of the Disaro label he does gothic neo folk. In this video he's being interviewed at the Mishka store in Brooklyn in front of his Actual Pain t.shirts which are almost as good as his music, then he plays a tune. Found this video on the Sorta Human blog which as per usual kicks ass!
