Hand In Hand by The Mekano Set
Hand In Hand by The Mekano Set is an album of Industrial EBM dark beats and gothyness, bass heavy and hard. Swirling shoe gaze moments mixed in with vicious drum programming, deeply throbbing basslines and haunted fuzzed out vocals.
The Mekano Set are a trio with two bass players.. they release wonderful statements like "We do not believe in gender. We do not believe in competing. We do not believe in success. We do not believe in belief." They announce they are "Nihilism you can dance to"
Go download their album from Bandcamp here.

Antoni Maiovvi horror disco Kickstarter style project..
Antoni Maiovvi and Gianni Vercetti specialise in a strange niche of electronic music, known as Horror Disco. Specially crafted atmospheric, cinematic dance music taking influence from Italo Disco, Krautrock, New Beat, EBM, House, Techno and most importantly the film scores of the 70s and 80s (think Argento's Tenebrae, Fulci's Zombie and John Carpenter's Escape From New York)
Antoni Maiovvi has been releasing Italo / Horror Disco records since 2008. He is not Italian, but actually from Bristol in the UK. He has produced 3 albums for Seed Records (the most recent being a double album of fake lost Italian TV Thriller soundtracks) one album for Bristol's Caravan Recordings. A 12” for Kompakt's sublabel Fright, as well as E.Ps for Slime and Italy's Sauroid.
Gianni Vercetti is a Italian/Greek Horror Disco producer living in Vienna. Slowly working away in a secret bunker of VHS bootlegs, he has released through MinimalRome and Black Montanas.
Maiovvi and Vercetti met in the start of 2011 at a party they were both booked to play in Athens and remained friends ever since. A conversation became apparent that there was no single label dedicated to this specific genre, and though releases were not hard to come by, the pair both felt it was time for them to take control over their own release schedule and really curate a label of great music released on limited edition 12” vinyl and for digital download.
But alas, both Maiovvi and Vercetti are poor artists living in Europe, they have no savings and cannot afford to put the money for the 12” pressing by themselves. This is where you come in. Go visit their site to pre order the record and get this project closer to the $1,120 it needs (its almost two thirds of the way there!)

Free album download: ZXZ - Abraxas
ZXZ is a solo project of Industrial musician / composer / producer Stan Przhegodsky. Who is also part of Witch House group ▼□■□■□■. This dude is pretty prolific and on the money with it. I've written about his ZXZ project before, it's kind of an experiment in making a new Witch House/Industrial goth sound, dynamic and dancey but in a melancholic way. He list his influence for this project as: "oOoOO, Skinny Puppy, Madonna, Depeche Mode, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Ministry, Spice Girls, The Sisters of Mercy, Clan of Xymox" And that is a perfect if somewhat long summing up of his new album! The album Abraxas is just out and available for free! Get it here. Its 15 tracks of industrial Witchian pop and goth awesomeness sampling up Madonna a lot and even though it takes things in a Mater Suspiria Vision direction at points with endless echo cycles and delay it never becomes trippy and spaced out, rather this is an album that remains on top and moving forward throughout. Like you could dj some of these tracks in a club and get people dancing just about, especailly on the more EBM style tracks like Angelique and The Bell Witch.
I properly like this album its great, you just have to kind of avoid the part in your brain that views some of the ZXZ blurb with suspicion, a bit like some Black Metal bands, just listen to the music and not what they say. I mention this because ZXZ says he is: "Influenced by the philosophy of Boyd Rice and ZXZ is a Social Darwinist project, dedicated towards individualism, natural law, and Stoicism." Interesting as Boyd Rice is one cant help but feel a bit uncomfortable around phrases like "Social-Darwinism" and Boyds website doesn't exactly help him out much. Anyway I'm probably totally off the mark with this and I had no trouble wigging out to Burzum and lapping up his two new albums so ignore all that and download Abraxas and trip to 15 tracks of dark dance and death magic awesomeness.

//Tense// - Turn It Off 7"
The glorious red vinyl and red print label looks great but the best visual part of this package is the cover art! What could beat a 70s style leather daddy with handle bar moustache and a raw steak for a face! As soon as I find out who the artworks by I'll update this blog post!
The A side "Turn It Off" is a classic industrial sounding electro funk track, a bassline driving things along with a furry and aggressive sexuality. Get down and sweat to this like it's always and forever 2am in an underground fetish club and the owners just locked the doors!
The B side is an inspired cover of Fleetwood Macs "The Chain" that grinds along slow and brooding, sounding like P.I.L on Valium until it breaks into a great slow building dark dance tune that seems to turn the lyrics "If you don't love me now you'll never love me again" into the nastiest threat ever!
Also.. my name crops up in the "thank you" list on the back cover! AWESOME! Thanks guys!!

Valis remix Age Of Consent -wonders are born!
Valis are in my opinion one of the best bands to not only to come out of Chicago but also the whole of the United States in the last few years, and they have have a new track out, well two actually!! So after that giant bigging up they better deliver hadnt they.. well they do with the song The Cant, a crooning stomper, all funk bass, vocal samples, swirling synths and beats that could only make you dance like an overly aggressive Columbian drug lord.
They have also remixed Age Of Consents track The Beach to great effect turning it from an understated 80s, Top Of The Pops appearance, slow down track into a the ultimate frenetic synth funk dance floor piece, filled with tense jaw grinding moments! The catalyst for this remix was Valis checking out my last post about them and then discovering Age Of Consent who I'd written about the week before, they got in touch and magic happened! Go to the Valis Soundcloud page to download both tracks.

The Mekano Set, smoke machines and carnage.
Have I written about The Mekano Set yet? They're from Brighton and used to feature the vocal talents of Blindness front women Beth who I wrote about back in June. Now a three piece they take an industrial rock sounding shoegaze for a ride through a world of phazing guitar and driving beats, Depeche Mode vocals and slick electronic walls of sound.
The first track featured here is a new one and heads into heavier dancier territory while the second is more their usual sound.
Last time I saw them live the soundsystem in the venue wasn't working properly and as a result the band got pissed off, turned the smoke machine on full blast until you literally could not see your hand in front of your face and howled their guitars before stopping and leaving after one song! Brilliant!
Get there stuff from iTunes here.

Little Specks of Blood Lust Blood and Blindness.
Recently I've been loving so much of the Chicago EBM sound, bands like Valis, White Car and Houstons //Tense// that I've neglected to point out that we have two equally awesome female fronted bands in a similar vein over here on the south coast of England!Blindness are an unsigned four piece, who create a great industrial, shoegaze, EBM sound that brings up elements of bands like Curve or Nine Inch Nails.
Live its drums, guitars, bass all fronted by an amazing singer Beth Rittig.
I still haven't caught them live but from seeing past projects from some of these guys I just know it cant fail!
Little Speck Of Blood Lust Blood are a duo that have a great livesound, part Zola Jesus part Jesus and Mary Chain and quite a bit of electronic beatery. I saw them play to an almost empty club a month ago but their performance was no less epic because of a lack of audience. Allen plays total shoegaze fuzzed out guitar while Helen projects a voice that can go from a whisper to a gunshot in seconds. The tracks recorded below really don't do them justice to their live sound to be fair!

Really, just look at their myspace or website and you'll see an apocalyptic star clock counting down the seconds till our end time, 20th January 2012!!
